Look for bands
Adult shrikes are currently being banded in many states and provinces in North America. Each banded shrike receives a unique combination of four bands: a federally issued stainless steel band and three color bands. Together, they create a unique code to identify each bird.
Report cached food
In addition to sightings of birds, the Working Group is collecting sightings of cached food items through the Larder Locker, on iNaturalist. If you find an impaled food item, take a picture to submit on Larder Locker, and contribute to our knowledge of Loggerhead Shrike diet composition across their range.
Join the Shrike Force
We are establishing a network of community scientist “Shrike Forces” throughout North America to help with shrike surveys and monitoring. Help us to gather data on shrike populations across the continent.
